I know I’m late at posting this. I’m trying to catch up on some of the shoots I did this last semester while I was attending school. Thankfully, the moments that have been captured are timeless so I hope you will all forgive my tardiness. Ryan is also a photographer, go check out his blog HERE!

We’ve got some new buttons in! Woop woop! I love buttons. Luckily, so do high schoolers! :)

Over the past year, I have been receiving increasingly more emails, facebook messages, and tweets asking me questions about the equipment and software I use or would suggest others to use. I figured I would do a small post on a few of the programs I currently use and why.

First and foremost, Adobe Photoshop is the number one program I use for editing. I currently run CS4. Alongside Photoshop is it’s image browser, Adobe Bridge. Bridge is an integral part of my workflow for culling, renaming, labeling, assigning keywords, rating, etc… In between Bridge and Photoshop is Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) which allows many aspects of a Raw image to be altered before going into Photoshop for fine tuning.

ACR allows for exposure and white balance correction, shadow/highlight adjustment, vignette, contrast, saturation, etc… This is where the photos get their initial adjustment. After this is the retouching and finishing touches in photoshop. This process takes time to learn, but once you have a rhythm, it’s a blessing to have so much control at your fingertips.

Okay, without getting too in depth, here are a few more programs. I run Mac OSX using Toast Titanium for all my CD/DVD burning needs since data spanning in a must when burning a wedding to multiple DVDs. InDesign for designing layouts, and Adobe Lightroom for my client galleries. Google Calendar for scheduling and task management. Google Calendar rocks because it syncs all your iCal calendars with all your devices (iPhone, Desktop, Laptop, iPad) for free, so no matter what device you use, all of your calendars are updated all the time. I use Transmit for all my website material. And last but definitely not least, Songbird. Songbird is Mozilla’s answer to Apple’s iTunes. When you have an entire mirrored hard drive stack dedicated solely to your music, you need a media player that can support a large music library with ease. I choose Songbird.
